SUMMARY

The discussion centers on self-teaching chemistry in preparation for the GAMSAT test, which includes a significant chemistry component. The participant has been studying collegiate first-year chemistry for one month and plans to progress to Organic Chemistry, followed by Physics and Biology. The individual emphasizes the challenges of self-study but expresses confidence in their ability to learn and engage with the subject matter. The conversation also touches on the importance of math skills in education.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of collegiate first-year chemistry concepts
  • Familiarity with the GAMSAT test structure and requirements
  • Basic knowledge of Organic Chemistry principles
  • Fundamental math skills for scientific calculations
NEXT STEPS
  • Research effective self-study techniques for chemistry
  • Explore resources for mastering Organic Chemistry
  • Study strategies for the GAMSAT test preparation
  • Learn foundational physics concepts relevant to chemistry
USEFUL FOR

Students preparing for the GAMSAT, self-learners in the sciences, and individuals seeking to strengthen their understanding of chemistry and related subjects.

Yes. I am teaching myself this subject and things are going very well. Been working through the books for one month and getting a solid knowledge of the subject. It's not easy by any means but I am working hard at it. I am preparing for the GAMSAT test next year which contains a considerable amount of Chemistry. So far I'm just powering through collegiate first year chemistry but I'm planning on attacking some Organic Chem when I'm finished. Then I'll move on to physics (I really have no clue about that subject either) and finally biology, which I am fairly decent with.

Well there you go guys, that's me in a nutshell. I'll be posting on this forum a lot over the coming years. Looking forward to interacting with some fine gentlemen and of course, some fine ladies too.

Well, you know they say that's the reason people take the GAMSAT. So they'll have the excuse

You're an autodidact.
