SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the relationship between background independence and wave function collapses in quantum mechanics (QM). Participants assert that wave function collapses do not disprove background independence, emphasizing that general relativity (GR) and QM remain incompatible. The consensus indicates that current experiments in QM do not provide definitive evidence against background independence, as GR has not been successfully integrated with QM.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of quantum mechanics principles
  • Familiarity with general relativity concepts
  • Knowledge of wave function collapse theories
  • Basic grasp of the implications of background independence
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of wave function collapse in quantum mechanics
  • Explore theories on the unification of general relativity and quantum mechanics
  • Study background independence in the context of modern physics
  • Investigate experimental approaches to test the compatibility of GR and QM
USEFUL FOR

Physicists, students of theoretical physics, and anyone interested in the foundational debates of quantum mechanics and general relativity.

Hasn't this been disproved by wave function collapses?

just looking for a yes or no answer here that's all thanks guys been very helpful

GR and QM have not yet been successfully merged, so an experiment in QM proves nothing to GR.
