Since it isn't 1st April, I don't really think the article is a joke. You would think that the press would be more regulated than this. This might be an extreme example, but I think there are certainly more cases of irresponsible journalism.

So the topic for discussion is this: where does irresponsible journalism clash with the freedom of the press, and how does this add up with your own ideals in your country?

That's the main reason we only allow mainstream well known (credible) news reports as a source. Pravda is not a mainstream (credible) source.

It's been a long time since I've seen the movie, but isn't that the transcript of a news report from "Independence Day"?

Yes, but we also allow the Huffington Post blog, the biases of both of these are well known enough so that together we get both sides of the same coin.

After repeated crackpot news posted in Pravda, we stopped accepting it several years ago.

Hmmm... when is Transformers 3 coming out again?

I understand that "Pravda" is Russian for "fair and balanced."

Zing!

To be fair, the article is from "Asia one" news, which is posting an article from the Korea Herald, which said that Pravda said that SETI said something about alien spaceships. From this link we can't be sure that Pravda was giving it any credibility, or just mentioning something that those "whacky Americans in Alaska" are saying.

July 1, 2011.

The original article at Pravda does look paralleled with the trailer. Even mentions a conspiracy about the moon, which is all the trailer is about.
Silly Pravda said:
Dr. Ken Johnston, former Manager of the Data and Photo Control Department at NASA's Lunar Receiving Laboratory, said that US astronauts had found and photographed ancient ruins of artificial origin on the Moon. Supposedly, US astronauts had seen large unknown mechanisms on the Moon. The data were classified by the US government.
-Which is just about right. Looks like a viral marketing campaign. A lite one.

EDIT: I'm finding this story all over the Net right now.

Heh, Ken Johnston is the name of the original creator of the V series.
