SUMMARY

It is possible to replace the plastic cover of a laptop's LCD screen without replacing the entire screen, although many manufacturers do not offer this service. ScreenTek is a recommended third-party service that can perform this task, provided they have the necessary screen in stock for the repolarization process. If the screen appears dark, the issue may be related to the backlight, which may necessitate a complete LCD screen replacement depending on the manufacturer.

I have a small scratch on my screen, at the plastic cover level. Is it possible to have the plastic cover replaced without replacing the entire screen?

I would think so. The LCD itself will have a glass cover, and the plastic over-cover would be there to protect the glass. Where did you buy the laptop? You should be able to give their service department a call for a quote.

I called them and they told me they don't offer this service and advised me to look for a third party service. I'll see what I can find.

Werg,

A company called ScreenTek (http://www.screentekinc.com) can do this for you. The only thing is, they have to have your screen in stock to complete the repolarization of the screen. This is due to the fact that the repolarization process can be difficult and if the first try doesn't work out, they have to have a back up screen for you.

Good luck.

What Kevin said as well. If the screen is still visibile, but it's darker than hell, it's the backlight. Depending on the manufacturer, it may require the entire LCD screen section to be replaced.

I am having a hell of a time finding a good all-in-one inkjet printer. I must have gone through 5 Canon, 2 HP, one Brother, one Epson and two 4 X 6 photo printers in the last 7 yrs. all have all sort of problems. I don't even know where to start anymore. my price range is $180-$400, not exactly the cheapest ones. Mainly it's for my wife which is not exactly good in tech. most of the problem is the printers kept changing the way it operate. Must be from auto update. I cannot turn off the...
