The discussion highlights concerns about the increasing sexualization of media aimed at children, particularly through platforms like MTV and performances by groups like the Pussycat Dolls. Participants express discomfort with explicit themes and the objectification of women, arguing that such content is inappropriate for young audiences. There is a call for responsible parenting, emphasizing the importance of monitoring what children are exposed to on television. Some argue that while nudity itself isn't harmful, the context in which it is presented can be detrimental. Overall, there is a consensus that the current media landscape poses challenges for raising children with healthy role models.

I think TV needs to go back to the way it was several years ago. Like to have "Leave it to Beaver", "I Love Lucy!", and a few of the others. I loved those shows.

No one knows what bipolar disorder is, it just means you have mood swings.

No, you don't know what Bipolar is. The definition is pretty clear:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipolar_disorder#Signs_and_symptoms

This condition has to be debilitating. This isn't "Yesterday I was sad because my friend called me a bad name but today I am happy because I had pancakes for breakfast."

Yeah I realized that.

could you explain what you are trying to convey?

Blind Lemon Jefferson was singing about his penis as early as 1920.

I don't know about that. They were good shows for its time, but they would be absolutely stupid and corny by todays standards. I think there are plenty of good shows out there that are adult. And they would be better if they had cursing and nudity in them. One show that would benifit from both is Law and Order.

If they were able to have cursing in there and nudity and shots of dead naked people, it would make the show that much more amazing. There are lots of good, serious, shows that would benifit BIG TIME from having cursing and nudity.

They should also randomly cut into scenes of the people in the entire courtroom dancing at a rave in their business suits.

Law & Order is fine just the way it is. No need to make it have more cussing or nudity, that would only make it worse, I think.

What do you mean, 'no need to have more cursing or nudity'. It doesn't have any cursing or nudity. It should have it. Its an adult show. Please explain in what way it would make it worse.

Well, currently the show is split half and half for the police portion and then the court portion. The nudity and more violence would detract from depicting how law enforcement and prosecutors do their jobs.

CSI would be a good candidate for eye candy, because it's so over-the-top already.

It does have some cussing, and I know there is no nudity in it. Just saying it would take a good adult and ruin it. I don't like to hear cussing or see those kinds of things. It makes the good shows go bad! Some of us don't want to see nakedness or hear cursing, lol.

Um...okay.

Last time I checked they can't say the F word or any other serious curse words. We agree there is no nudity. So as it stands there aint none of it.

I want to see a dead body of a naked woman that was killed and the cops and the suspect cursing at each other in the police interview. I want a serious show, for adults. Something you would find in the movies.

You don't think suspects curse in courtrooms at judges and witnesses? You don't think they curse at the police when in custody?

How does nudity and violence detract from depiciting how law enforcement and prosecutors do their jobs. Who said the police and laywers would be cursing all the time? I never said that.

It's not a problem. Sex is natural.

I don't think it matters, because it detracts from the substance of the show.

For one the budget of the show. More time is spent on the flashiness and less on the things that matter. Secondly, the point of the show is it doesn't matter what the victim looks like. The show is about how cops figure out who dun it and how prosecutors try to put these guys in jail. Adding violence and nudity would be pointless.

Like I said, add violence and nudity to CSI. It's already borderline on nudity and has plenty of violence, plus it's exactly the kind of show that would benefit from it.

Not Law and Order.

I think cussing is cussing. I kinda go back to the way my parents taught me...the smallest cuss word is still bad. (*Um, in the English language "AIN'T" is not a real word*)

So, you would be ok, if a naked man was there lying on the table...why does it have to be a female?? lol

TV violence is a problem. Sex between consenting adults is not.

There is Broadcast tv - the biggies (ABC, CBS, NBC) that are very highly censored, and there are the more lax cable only channels that range in what they show from partial to complete nudity and from mild to extremely graphic crime/torture/mutilation scenes, and language.

I don't believe that anyone should dictate what is available to watch, each person can decide for themselves what they care to watch. It's my home, it's my tv, I should have the right to decide what to watch. If I have someone in the house that I don't want to allow to see these shows, I can block the shows. Very easy.

Personally, I would not want a five year old watching "deep throat".

We can use our common sense and personal feelings to block what we don't want to see on our personal tv's. There is no reason that other people should have that choice taken away from them.

Have you ever seen an episode of law and order in your life? The show isn't about how cops figure out who did it. It's not like CSI. It is about the criminals and why they did it.

'cussing is cussing'. Wow, okay. That's supposed to mean something, I guess. Honestly, you're not five years old my dear. Get used to people cursing. If you think the smallest curse word is bad you've lived a very very sheltered life.

You should watch an episode of the Sopranos. They curse. It's a great show. It has content.

Rescue me, another good show. Almost has cursing in it. Very close. Also great show with story.

To argue cursing takes away from a show or makes the show simply about cursing is total nonsense.

I've never watched the Sopranos..seems to much like a soap opra to me, I might be wrong. Rescue me, ugh, doesn't really interest me, not too much time for tv either.

Now, I'm not saying that if a show has any cussing in it, I won't watch it. I have learned to tune it all out, but having more, would just ruin it...I mean, what's the point to all the cussing, there is other words that could be used.

What's so bad about a curse word? It conveys strong emotion. It has a purpose.

What do you mean by 'all the cursing'.

Haha, you remind me of this clip:

It's sooooo true for this thread.

Yes, and it happens to be correct. Unless the show gets an instant increase in the budget, then they will have to spend time and money on these corpses that would have otherwise been spent on making a good show.

Have you ever seen an episode of law and order in your life? The show isn't about how cops figure out who did it. It's not like CSI. It is about the criminals and why they did it.

The cops go ask witnesses, gather material evidence, and test ideas, slowly building a case. That's figuring out who did it. I don't know what else to say.

Okayyyyyyyyyyy...whatever you say man. Whatever you say. Since you're so aware of the budget of the producers of the show. I'll leave it to your expert knowledge.

enough law and order csi talk, let's get back to the porn. personally, i'd like to see a little more porn, here, but i don't think it's going to happen. the reason i don't think it's going to happen is broadcast television. risque stuff on cable and satellite is one of the things hurting broadcasters. they've tried pushing the envelope by showing buttocks and a little side boob in later broadcasts, but the FCC is pushing them back. and so, the broadcasters don't want cable channels (the non-pay channels, at least) doing it either and lobby against it.

That he doesn't simple go up on stage and start cursing for the sake of cursing. Same as cursing on a show like law and order wouldn't be for the sake of cursing. There is a context, and its perfectly acceptable. You were Bill Cosby. I was Eddie Murphy - Ahuck-huck-huck-huck...
