SUMMARY

The discussion centers on mentoring high school students in science projects through a remote platform. The mentor seeks recommendations for websites that provide safety guidelines for science experiments, as traditional in-person demonstrations are not feasible. Participants emphasize the importance of providing students with resources tailored to their educational level and suggest incorporating video clips to enhance understanding. The conversation also touches on experiences with the New York Academy of Sciences mentorship program.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of remote mentorship techniques
  • Familiarity with high school science curricula
  • Knowledge of science experiment safety protocols
  • Experience with educational resource platforms
NEXT STEPS
  • Research effective remote mentorship strategies for science education
  • Explore websites offering science experiment safety guidelines
  • Investigate the New York Academy of Sciences mentorship program
  • Find video resources that demonstrate safe science experiments for high school students
USEFUL FOR

Hello all:

Start mentoring group of students , on network academy of science
Few questions raised with seeing the platform

Could fellow PF members , recommend a good website on science experiments safety issues, in my school system usually the teacher conduct the science experiment in front of students , and as the mentorship is remote I think it is a good idea to ask them to read about safety

Did any one conduct a remote mentorship which he like to share few tips

Any one from the fellow PF community have experience with New York academy of science mentorship program, I can ask few questions?

Best Regards
H

That's a very good idea; thanks for thinking about that.

What age group and level of education are these students? What resources do they have available for these experiments? Will you be available via remote link-up during their experiments, or are they on their own during the actual experiments?

From what I concluded is a mix or they only provide theoretical studies , but I think a link for them to read that is directed to high school students is a good idea, if also there is a link of video clip on that subject , is also a good idea
