AI Thread Summary
A New York City woman, Trina Thompson, is suing Monroe College for $70,000, the cost of her IT degree, claiming she cannot find a job since graduating in April. The lawsuit has sparked discussions about the absurdity of suing an educational institution for lack of employment opportunities. Critics highlight that such actions could deter potential employers from hiring someone associated with a frivolous lawsuit. The conversation also touches on the practicality of vocational schools versus traditional degrees and the broader implications of suing for emotional distress and lost wages related to educational outcomes. The thread reflects a mix of disbelief and humor regarding the lawsuit's validity and the precedent it sets.

This has to rank up there with the most ridiculous lawsuits. She paid $70,000 for a degree in IT? Why didn't she go to a vocational school?

Now that her name is public, I'm sure potential employers will be dying to hire someone that would file a frivolous lawsuit.

NEW YORK — A New York City woman who says she can't find a job is suing the college where she earned a bachelor's degree.

Trina Thompson filed a lawsuit last week against Monroe College in Bronx Supreme Court. The 27-year-old is seeking the $70,000 she spent on tuition.

Thompson says she's been unable to find gainful employment since she received her information technology degree in April.

Just ONCE, I wanted to see a post titled Status Update that was not a blatant, annoying spam post by a new member. So here it is. Today was a good day here in Northern Wisconsin. Fall colors are here, no mosquitos, no deer flies, and mild temperature, so my morning run was unusually nice. Only two meetings today, and both went well. The deer that was road killed just down the road two weeks ago is now fully decomposed, so no more smell. Somebody has a spike buck skull for their...
Thread 'In the early days of electricity, they didn't have wall plugs'
Hello scientists, engineers, etc. I have not had any questions for you recently, so have not participated here. I was scanning some material and ran across these 2 ads. I had posted them at another forum, and I thought you may be interested in them as well. History is fascinating stuff! Some houses may have had plugs, but many homes just screwed the appliance into the light socket overhead. Does anyone know when electric wall plugs were in widespread use? 1906 ad DDTJRAC Even big...
