SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the Landau golden list, specifically its inclusion of the Oppenheimer-Snyder collapse paper. Participants inquire about the availability of this list and explore the existence of similar compilations. The reference to the book "Black Hole: How an Idea Abandoned by Newtonians, Hated by Einstein, and Gambled on by Hawking Became Loved" highlights that while the list is mentioned in Chapter 6, it is not provided within the text itself. The conversation also touches on the historical context of the Oppenheimer-Snyder work and its reception in the Soviet Union.

In the wiki page about Oppenheimer-Snyder collapse, it says that Landau added the paper to his golden list of classical papers. Is the list available somewhere? Are there other similar lists?

The citation from the wiki page is to Chapter 6 of the book "Black Hole: How an Idea Abandoned by Newtonians, Hated by Einstein, and Gambled on by Hawking Became Loved", chapter 6. The book mentions that list on pages 82 and 99. However, the book does not appear to include the list.
... the work of Oppenheimer and Snyder was a forgotten skeleton in the cupboard ... dismissed as the wildest speculation . ” But the Soviets had embraced their papers far earlier . Having those articles on Landau's "golden list" gave the ...

Maybe one should do research in russian. I'll try later, I know cyrillic so maybe that will help
