How is a series RC network acting as a lead network & a parallel RC combination acting as a lag network ?

Physics news on Phys.org
a good start would be to write down the complex impedances of each

It depends on how the RC network is connected to the load. For example, if R and C is added in series with the load, then the phase angle of the load current will increase. If C is in parallel with the load and R is in series with both, then the phase angle will decrease. However, if R is in parallel with C and the combined network is in series with the load, the phase angle of the load will increase.

How is this phase angle increasing & decreasing , that i want to know .
