Learning physics through a DIY project

Hey everyone! I joined this forum to hopefully get some help on a project I'm working on. I got sucked into physics through the project, and it's been very fun and interesting. I honestly don't yet understand much of what I've researched, but I'm trying to push through with the math presented (my favorite part).
