Looking For bubble physics university textbook

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on finding resources related to bubble physics, particularly textbooks and classic works. A notable recommendation is a classic by Clive, although specific details are not provided. Participants suggest various resources, including books on surfactant chemistry and thermodynamics within the field of Soft Condensed Matter Science. Key texts mentioned include "Cavitation and Bubble Dynamics" by Brennen, which is available both in print and for free online, and "The Acoustic Bubble" by Leighton. The conversation highlights the difficulty in sourcing academic literature on niche topics like bubble physics and mass transfer, while also providing links to specific books and articles that could aid in research.

Hi

I'm doing a project on bubbles, and I'm trying to find resources on bubble physics.
My professor said that there is a classic on by clive, but couldn't remember the details, and I can't find it anywhere. Could anybody help?

Recommendations for any other good textbooks on basic bubble physics would be appreciated

Thanks

what I've figured out is this: its hard getting book recommendations for subjects like this. i myself have trouble finding books on mass transfer for scientists.

if you're interested in surfactant chemistry, thermodynamics and bubble formation, you should look at books in Soft Condensed Matter Science such as this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/0198505892/?tag=pfamazon01-20

If you want to learn about sonoluminescence you can directly search for that.

If you want to learn about bubbles and foams applied to environmental or astrophysics, then I'm afraid I can't help you.

Nice one, looks like another great reference book - I didn't know that one was available, thanks meanrev!

The book is fascinating. If your education includes a typical math degree curriculum, with Lebesgue integration, functional analysis, etc, it teaches QFT with only a passing acquaintance of ordinary QM you would get at HS. However, I would read Lenny Susskind's book on QM first. Purchased a copy straight away, but it will not arrive until the end of December; however, Scribd has a PDF I am now studying. The first part introduces distribution theory (and other related concepts), which...
I've gone through the Standard turbulence textbooks such as Pope's Turbulent Flows and Wilcox' Turbulent modelling for CFD which mostly Covers RANS and the closure models. I want to jump more into DNS but most of the work i've been able to come across is too "practical" and not much explanation of the theory behind it. I wonder if there is a book that takes a theoretical approach to Turbulence starting from the full Navier Stokes Equations and developing from there, instead of jumping from...
