Hello all,

Purely out of interest, I considered taking a general physics course at my local university. However, I don't really want to spend the money on a course. So, I'm looking for a recommendation for a good college general physics textbook to study on my own (I presume that I will need an instructors' edition in order to confirm my answers to any exercises).

Also, I guess I'm hoping to buy an older edition so as to avoid paying too much. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

Ryan

For just general physics purposes, I guess Young & Freedman, or Halliday & Resnick, would suffice.
