Machine Element Design: Resources & Lecture Notes

AI Thread Summary
Resources for machine element design, including topics like static failure, fatigue theory, and spur gears, are sought after due to the complexity of the subject. Users recommend exploring online materials and lecture notes, although free options are limited. A specific book on Amazon is suggested as a potentially valuable resource, despite not being free. The discussion highlights the challenge of finding comprehensive educational materials in this field. Overall, there is a clear need for accessible information on machine design principles.

Hello, I am looking for a good source of information about design of machines (static failure, fatigue theory, design of shafts and keys, spur gears, etc..). Maybe some free online material or lecture notes? It seems like a fairly difficult course but I could find very few information so far.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all, i have some questions about the tesla turbine: is a tesla turbine more efficient than a steam engine or a stirling engine ? about the discs of the tesla turbine warping because of the high speed rotations; does running the engine on a lower speed solve that or will the discs warp anyway after time ? what is the difference in efficiency between the tesla turbine running at high speed and running it at a lower speed ( as fast as possible but low enough to not warp de discs) and: i...
