Magnetic diffusivity : significance?

AI Thread Summary
Magnetic diffusivity is a key concept in plasma physics, particularly within the context of the induction equation. It quantifies how magnetic fields interact with plasma, influencing the behavior of plasma as a fluid. Understanding diffusion in this context involves recognizing how magnetic fields can penetrate and affect the motion of charged particles in plasma. The discussion highlights a need for clearer explanations of these concepts, as many find them confusing. Overall, grasping magnetic diffusivity is essential for comprehending plasma dynamics and its implications in various scientific fields.

Magnetic diffusivity is a term that appears in the induction equation, when we deal with plasma fluids. It has units of meter squared per second.
I am unable to figure out what does the diffusion of plasma as a fluid implies.. It has something to do with magnetic field interacting with the plasma..

Someone please provide a detailed explanation..

what does diffusion means..? how can i physically understand it.. with a plasma..?

someone please reply...

nyone... please give some answer... !

Plasma cosmology gibberish.

thanx for replying.. but that didn't help much..

people should seriously consider studying plasmas for a change... :-/

Today at about 4:30 am I saw the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, where they were about the width of the full moon, or one half degree apart. Did anyone else see it? Edit: The moon is 2,200 miles in diameter and at a distance of 240,000 miles. Thereby it subtends an angle in radians of 2,200/240,000=.01 (approximately). With pi radians being 180 degrees, one radian is 57.3 degrees, so that .01 radians is about .50 degrees (angle subtended by the moon). (.57 to be more exact, but with...
