SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the mechanical properties of polymers, specifically density, Young's modulus, bulk modulus, and shear modulus. A recommended resource for further information is "The Modern Plastics Handbook." Participants express a need for reliable references to understand these properties better.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mechanical properties such as Young's modulus and shear modulus.
  • Familiarity with polymer science and materials engineering concepts.
  • Knowledge of density and its significance in material selection.
  • Access to "The Modern Plastics Handbook" for detailed information.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the mechanical properties of polymers in "The Modern Plastics Handbook."
  • Explore online databases for polymer material properties.
  • Learn about testing methods for measuring Young's modulus and shear modulus.
  • Investigate the impact of polymer composition on mechanical properties.
USEFUL FOR

Materials scientists, polymer engineers, and students studying mechanical properties of materials will benefit from this discussion.

Hello everyone,

I've had a hard time finding places where to look up the different mechanical properties of polymers. I am mainly interested in density, young's, bulk, and shear moduli. I would appreciate if anybody can point me out to some good resources.
Thank you
