The discussion revolves around the validity of generalizations about gender differences, particularly as presented in a popular book. Participants express mixed feelings about the author's claims, noting that while some statements resonate as truths, others seem overly simplistic or pedantic. A key point of contention is the assertion that men and women are fundamentally different in their communication styles and emotional responses. Some argue that these differences are exaggerated, emphasizing that individual variations within each gender often outweigh the differences between them. There is acknowledgment of the complexity of male-female interactions, with many agreeing that communication issues often stem from differing perceptions rather than inherent traits. The conversation also touches on the humorous and sometimes crude dynamics of gender interactions, with anecdotes illustrating the challenges and misunderstandings that can arise in relationships. Ultimately, the consensus leans toward recognizing both similarities and differences, while cautioning against overgeneralization.

John Gray's book seems far more closely related to a person's thinking/feeling preference on the Myers Briggs personality test. A feeling man will act exactly like he says a woman should act. A thinking woman will act exactly like he says a man should act.

IMO, there are few things found as vulgar and crude as the discussions in a high school boy's locker room; except for it seems, those found in the girl's locker room.

Yes. It seems the girls are just as creative as the boys.

Women always ask for the details-weather they are shared or not depends on your woman:wink:

Same thing with the boys really. Not everyone that I knew [or I] was like this, but there were plenty who had no limits. I assume that this would be true of the girls also.

Word from the horses mouth-I once dated a girl like that. Her friends starting coming up to me and actually complimenting me(no I'm not sharing this to brag). And they knew specific details about certain things that they shouldn't have. I promptly kicked her A@@ to the curb the next day. Good or not, I knew that if she'd share the good, the bad was soon to follow, if it hadn't already. Those are the kind of women that will tell every intimate detail about you to their best friend, then turn around and lie to you about what they did that day.

Yes and my wife tells everyone at work all of the most embarassing details about me...and she is always soooo proud of herself.

Well it may be a little different with married couples, and believe me, I'm not trying to incite a divorce by any means- There's enough already. But you have to wonder..if she's telling them the good things, do you think she tells the bad things too?(see my other post on couples). But with marriage you have to consider that women also have to take into account, that every time they badmouth you, it's a reflection on them. Depends on the girl I guess;)

Actually this has been an issue a couple of times, but all in all, it goes with our antagonistic style of teasing each other. Of course, sometimes it is still embarrassing.
