SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the feasibility of using graphite sheets as a substitute for carbon-loaded Teflon in millimeter wave dosimeters. Participants suggest that semi-conductive materials, such as graphite sheets, could effectively absorb electromagnetic radiation. Additionally, Teledeltos Paper, with a resistance of 800 Ohms per square, is proposed as a potential alternative, especially when layered. The conversation emphasizes the importance of sourcing appropriate materials for successful experimental replication.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of electromagnetic radiation principles
  • Familiarity with millimeter wave dosimetry
  • Knowledge of material properties, specifically semi-conductors
  • Experience with resistive materials and their applications
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the properties and applications of graphite sheets in electromagnetic contexts
  • Investigate the use of Teledeltos Paper in experimental setups
  • Explore the principles of resistive materials in radiation absorption
  • Review existing literature on carbon-loaded Teflon alternatives in dosimetry
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, experimental physicists, and engineers involved in dosimetry and material science, particularly those exploring alternatives to traditional materials in electromagnetic applications.

Hi I'm trying to duplicate the experiment in the paper I've attached. I'm having some trouble sourcing the carbon loaded teflon described in the paper. Would something like graphite sheet work? I guess as long as you had something semi-conductive that heats so when EM radiation passes thru it, it should work?

WE have recently been discussing resistive paper on the Forum, maybe it will work, especially two layers of it? It is 800 Ohms per square. It is called Teledeltos Paper and is available from education suppliers.
