Once any "black belt" is earned, I feel it's best to diversify into other disciplines to check whether there is something out there you can use.

I started at Jhoon Rhee in the early 1970s, boxed in miami from 1975 to 1981 while also wrestling in high school, and started learning submissions from every discipline I could find ever since.

Every transition to another discipline was from a bad result when I ran into someone who had a different skill set.

I'm still a marginal wrestler but having a good submissions game helps to counter a good wrestler.

It's also good to know the different flavors in various disciplines in that you can usually divide up any discpline into "defense", "sport", "no holds barred", and others.......and know that they can be very different from each other.

With the knowledge gained from above, I use life experience and basic physics to learn things that many disciplines have not addressed.

Great pictures dlg. I look forward to seeing the ER pictures of the first person who is dumb enough to mess with her.
Me too. She would do everything possible to avoid a confrontation; making it even worse for the person should they not take heed.

I agree. My daughter's boyfriend is from a boxing background and they are both training in Muay Thai.

I wanted to show with pictures the ending to my daughter's (and my) Black Belt test adventure.

Most of this thread has been about my daughter, but look at the other awesome Black Belt family member accomplishments.

The night before I was leaving to go back to Kansas, my daughters Master called her to have us meet for some Mexican food. Talk about feeling like being a part of the ITF Taekwon-do family; it was my birthday and ......

Here's one of her good friends from Puerto Rico.

Thank you turbo. She knows about my PF friends here. It was just yesterday on the phone that she brought up remembering seeing the photo of your log house with snow to the roof's eves. You can count on her having your back.

Each time I look at her pictures I have the same thoughts - she looks deceitfully delicate, but she is a deadly trap

Thank you. I will pay for her transportation, lodging and legal funds (if needed). We need more brave politicians and activists that are willing to buck their political parties and ideological compatriots.

We can't always count on the activists to express a well-reasoned explanation why we need to be sensitive to the stuff in the major media. We need to be able to accept that there there may be decent reasonable defensible counter-offer.

A message to PF.

My daughter said:
Thank you all for the kind words and respect. I don't know any of you, only what my dad tells me, and vice versa. Still, what I have taken is that PF is almost like a family, similar to my ITF Taekwon-do family, which is great. I appreciate you all being there for my dad. Maybe one day soon I will be a member on here myself. :) Thanks again and Taekwon.

I thought I'd revive this thread to report that my daughter will be going to this tournament. Wow, what a lucky girl. She'll be competing with the USA team and individually.

She's back with medals.

Third in sparring. She said 1st and 2nd winners definitely deserved it.

Second in patterns.

[Broken]

Second in team power breaking. She went to the hospital to x-ray her ankle. Not broken. :)

Thank you turbo. She is going to open a dojang in Denver in the near future. She already has enough clients for a kids class and has found a facility that she will be renting.
