This place seems to have a sponsor in the form of some PDF program. The adverts for it are obnoxious. They're inserted into threads and obscure the screen in an aggravating manner. It's incredibly annoying.

Please remediate.

I understand web sites need advertisers to pay for things. But holy smokes. Normal adverts that don't cover threads or pop up filling my screen are OK. And advert windows with normal window controls to close them would be good.

And to the actual sponsor. I promise you I will never knowingly use your product. If I find it on my computer I will remove it.

Note: I now find adverts only show up when I am not logged in. This is a "thing that makes you go hmmm..."

It's been this way for decades. Where have you been? 😄 I agree it's annoying. Maybe an incentive to register and login?

The online ad market long collapsed. At the moment I'm close to breaking even.

Thank you!!!
How about something like a Platinum badge that's subscription based to remind people (like me) to send more money. It seems that once you get the Gold thing it's good forever and we're never reminded to provide more support.

IDK, maybe ad revenue dominates user contributions in any case.

BTW, I really like that there is no barrier to entry. A site like this won't work if we have to pay first.

I have some solemn news to report. Many in the community had been wondering where the prolific @Vanadium 50 has been. V50 hasn't posted a message in nearly a year. After months of questioning, the mentor group dug in and did some investigation and we're confident V50 passed away early this year. Few members need reminding what kind of force @Vanadium 50 was for the community and physics. A mentor for 5+ years and an annual award winner seemingly every other year. He has a top 10 post count...
