The discussion revolves around using Wolfram Alpha for mathematical computations and the need for a subscription to access certain features, such as downloading results or saving plots. Users express frustration over the subscription requirement for saving plots, despite discovering that there is an option to save them by hovering over the plot. Alternatives like Octave Online are mentioned as free options, though they require knowledge of MATLAB/Octave syntax. The conversation highlights the balance between cost and functionality in accessing mathematical tools online.

Hi
Anyone knows?
Thanks a lot

Physics news on Phys.org
Yes I think I have to subscribe for price,
anyone knows a free website?

http://octave-online.net/ looks pretty nice, but you need to know MATLAB / Octave syntax. (That is easy to learn, though.) It's open and free and you can save your plots.

EDIT: Actually, you can save your plots in Wolfram Alpha, too. Just move your mouse cursor over the plot and a list of icons appears. One is for saving.
