Undergrad Advancements in Cyclotron Particle Accelerator Design: A Scientist's Perspective

Click For Summary
The discussion centers on modifications to cyclotron particle accelerators, with a focus on the need for clarity and detail in presenting such designs. Participants emphasize the importance of providing quantitative analysis and specific improvements over existing models to validate claims of innovation. Concerns are raised about the quality of submitted images and the lack of substantial information regarding the modifications. The necessity of understanding underlying physics principles is highlighted for meaningful contributions to the field. Overall, the conversation stresses the importance of rigorous scientific communication in accelerator design discussions.

I've been working on modifying the cyclotron particle accelerator. Tell me what you think?
It's pretty basic though

Your pictures are unreadable. Plus, what is wrong with existing cyclotron designs? What aspect would you want to improve?

Physics just doesn't say "what goes up must come down". It must also say where and when it comes down.

Your "modified" cyclotron is nothing more than a drawing. There are people on here that don't just draw such things. They actually are physicists and engineers in accelerator science. So if you want to impress them, then you need to not only understand the physics, but also to show quantitative analysis of what you are doing, especially if you claim to have made a modification to something that is well-known.

And has berkeman has said, what exactly did you do that is different, and why is it important/interesting? What does it do that the old design can't do, or something that can't be done with other existing design or facilities?

Zz.
