Standing On My Own Two Feet

The subject of your photo for this week's contest must be on its own two feet. The subject, or subjects, may have only two feet and standing on them (such as a person, a fowl, etc.) or they have more than 2 feet, but the photo shows them standing on only two of them (a dog begging and standing on its two hind legs, a chair balanced on just two feet, etc.). Your subject may be a sculpture or statue, but it must clearly show something that has what we conventionally call as feet or legs, and resting on only two of them. So a modern art sculpture of a blob, and supported underneath by only two pillars, does not qualify.

Please ensure that the subject is on just two feet, i.e. it can't be a person sitting down, even though that person has two feet, or the person is balancing on just one foot.

Contest Rules:

1. Any digital photo or digitally-scanned photo relevant to the theme will be accepted within the contest period. In case there's a gray area, or you're not sure if the picture is suitable, check with me first.

2. Please resize your digital photo to no more than 800 x 600 or 600 x 800 pixels. You may also crop your picture if you wish. You are also allowed to adjust the brightness and contrast of your picture but these should not dramatically alter the look of the picture. But other than those, any form of picture editing or modification is not allowed. This is a photo contest, not a picture editing/special effect contest. You may add a watermark or your name/nickname to the photo for identification purposes.

3. Upload your photos to any of the photo servers such as imageshack or photobucket. Then post it the relevant contest thread and link your picture using the img command. PM me if you do not know how. Alternatively, you may simply upload your image file to PF, and then have the full image displayed in your post.

4. Only ONE picture per member per contest. Once a picture is posted, it cannot be changed other than a total withdrawl by that member from that week's photo contest. Exceptions will be made for modification to comply with the rules, such as resizing.

5. At the end of the contest period, I will open a poll and every PF member can vote for the picture they like best.

6. Note that in case we have a large number of entries, I will do the polling in more than one thread. If that's the case, you can vote in each of the polling threads. The photos will be assigned in the polling threads in the order they were submitted.

7. The photo of the subject must be something that you took directly, not via in intermediary medium, and not taken by someone else. Unless otherwise noted, a photo of another photo, painting, print, etc. does not qualify.

8. You can use a picture only once. Once it is used in a contest, it cannot be reused in another contest.

9. Please post only pictures meant for submission in this thread. Photos not meant for submission must not be posted in the contest thread. Posting of more than one photos by a member may result in an automatic disqualification from the week's contest.

Not walking? And do you have to be able to actually see the feet as long as it's clear they must be there? Say somebody up to their knees in mud?

Walking is fine since the person, or animal, is on its own feet.

If we can’t see clearly that the subject is on its own feet, then it doesn’t qualify.

Well I think most normal people of good will would say they can see here a bear standing on two feet in the water. But I suppose a pedant might say they don't see that, they only infer it. I wonder what ZapperZ says.

I hope it is the right size this time?

This is what I get when I look at the image info:

Dimension: 806px × 800px

So it is larger than what is allowed.

Yeah, this one doesn't quite fit into what one would conventionally call "legs". So we'll remove this and you have time to submit another one.

Zz.
Legs? You asked for feet.
Anyway this bear us standing on two visible feet, tho I can't prove it isn't held up by invisible threads. Will this do?

On the hosting site below this pic appears 800X600 pixels.
I loaded the last one in the same way but maybe because it was cropped it has not come out like that.
Now I have somehow managed to modify the previous one and the pixels are down >800X600, it is still standing on 2 feet and it is a better pic, but the feet are under water. If it were floating I don't think it could be that far out of the water.

Your first photo was fine. I only cited the SIZE as the problem and nothing else.

I assume that this last photo is your official entry.

If the file size is now okay, and if actually seeing the feet is not a problem, I prefer the first photo as my submission.

No, the file size is still wrong (799px × 794px), and the polling thread has already been created.

Late entry, but I really like this shot. Taken at Brookgreen Gardens, Myrtle Beach, SC, December 2018
