This is so great. British comedienne Diane Morgan does an incredible job portraying the clueless journalist/documentarian.
It reminds me of the time my Dad invited the school janitor and his son over to see my new TRS-80 micro. My Dad told me that the son was interested in learning about computers.
I went into the spiel of explaining how the magic of the computer worked: keyboard, cassette drive, printer…
His first question was, "How do I enter my homework?" I’m like, what??? Yeah, you know, so it can do my homework for me.
Sadly, I had to break it to him that that's not how computers work. You have to know how to compute the answer and write a program, and then you'll get your answers.
I had one disappointed kid. His real passion was fast cars. I often wonder what he is doing now and whether he became a mechanic and gotten the car of his dreams.
Also, I wonder if he’s tried today's AI that could do his homework but with caveats and II wonder how I’d answer his or his grandkids today.
Why yes, it can do your homework, but would you really trust your grades on its answers if you can't do the homework yourself?
