SUMMARY

This discussion centers on generating engaging physics project ideas suitable for a three-month timeline. Participants suggest exploring topics such as drag forces on various shaped objects and the variation of surface tension with temperature. The emphasis is on selecting projects that maintain interest and are feasible with available equipment. The conversation highlights the need for a balance between complexity and accessibility for advanced-level investigations.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of physics concepts such as drag forces and surface tension
  • Familiarity with experimental design and data collection methods
  • Access to standard physics laboratory equipment
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews for project background research
NEXT STEPS
  • Research advanced physics concepts related to fluid dynamics
  • Explore experimental methods for measuring drag forces on objects
  • Investigate the relationship between temperature and surface tension in liquids
  • Review project management techniques for organizing a three-month research timeline
USEFUL FOR

High school students, educators, and hobbyists interested in conducting physics experiments and developing engaging project ideas.

I need ideas for a physics project. The teacher said that we could do anything, so long as we can get hold of the equipment for it. I basically need to answer a question or have some kind of title which I could investigate, for example, drag forces on different shape objects, variation of surface tension with temperature. But I want to do something interesting so that I don't get bored of it half way. It's a project that will take about 3 months to complete, inclulding the experiments and write-up. Preferably to an advanced level, but not too advanced.

Thanks,
SolarEclipse

Thanks. I don't think I'm able to pick up that book so quickly. Does anyone else have any more ideas?
