AI Thread Summary
A vehicle enters a straight road section at a speed of 50 km/h and experiences variable acceleration with displacement. The user attempts to calculate the velocity at s = 0.30 km using integration and the kinematic equation, but finds their answer incorrect. The discussion highlights the need for clarification on the specific function of acceleration as it varies with displacement. Understanding this function is crucial for accurately determining the vehicle's velocity.

Please help,

A vehicle enters a test section of straight road at s = 0 with a speed of 50 km/h. It then undergoes an acceleration which varies with displacement as shown. Determine the velocity v of the vehicle as it passes the position s = 0.30 km.

Thanks!

hi varsitymsb5! :wink:

show us what you've tried, and where you're stuck, and then we'll know how to help! :smile:

∫vdv from 8.33E-4 to v = ∫ads from 0 to 300
v^2=vnot^2+2a(snot-s)=(8.33E-4)^2+2(.4)(300)
v=15.49m/s

This is what I did but the answer is wrong and not sure what I did wrong.

so the question says that a is a function of s …

what function? :confused:
