Preview in the DM area

AI Thread Summary
There are ongoing issues with the preview function in the DM area, causing text rendering problems, particularly with mathematical expressions. Users have experienced difficulties where double dollar signs do not render correctly and refreshing leads to ASCII code output. While some users report that previews work in other contexts, the DM area seems to be problematic. It is suggested that these issues may stem from template selection. The conversation highlights the need for further investigation into the preview functionality.

Could it be that we still have those former preview issues in the DM area? I just totally destroyed my text while trying to use previews and refreshes. First, it didn't render text in double dollars, and playing around with refreshes produced ASCII code again.

hmmm I just tested in here and preview worked for me
Yes, here. I mean, in a DM. I tested

Proof: If there is a prime number ##p## such that ##p\in\mathbb{Q}##, then we have an equation
$$
\sqrt{p} = \dfrac{r}{s}\quad (*),
$$
where we may assume that ##r,s## are coprime. Hence, ##p \cdot s^2=r^2.## Thus ##p## divides ##r,## say, ##r=q\cdot p.## Then ##r^2=q^2\cdot p^2## and ##s^2=q^2\cdot p.## This, however, implies that ##p## divides ##s## and ##r/s## wasn't coprime contradicting our assumption. This means that the equation ##(*)## does not exist and ##\sqrt{p}\not\in \mathbb{Q}.##

and didn't get a preview at all. (The first time prior to this thread yielded a preview except for
$$
\sqrt{p} = \dfrac{r}{s}\quad (*),
$$
which didn't render at all. A few refreshes later, I had ASCII.

Refresh works after posting, but not while typing.

oh I thought this was a DM lol. Yeah I see it doesn't work. This is likely a template selection issue. I'll look into it.

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
This came up in my job today (UXP). Never thought to raise it here on PF till now. Hyperlinks really should be underlined at all times. PF only underlines them when they are rolled over. Colour alone (especially dark blue/purple) makes it difficult to spot a hyperlink in a large block of text (or even a small one). Not everyone can see perfectly. Even if they don't suffer from colour deficiency, not everyone has the visual acuity to distinguish two very close shades of text. Hover actions...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
