SUMMARY

The discussion centers on designing a stepper motor controller using the 8088 microprocessor, with functionalities to input speed via a keypad and display speed and position on an LCD. The project is constrained by a two-month deadline, but participants agree that it is feasible if resources and existing knowledge are adequate. Suggestions include negotiating the complexity of the LCD display component to ensure project completion within the timeframe.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of 8088 microprocessor architecture
  • Basic interfacing techniques for microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of stepper motor control mechanisms
  • Experience with keypad and LCD interfacing
NEXT STEPS
  • Research 8088 microprocessor programming techniques
  • Learn about stepper motor driver circuits
  • Explore interfacing methods for keypads and LCDs
  • Investigate project management strategies for tight deadlines
USEFUL FOR

Electronics students, hobbyists designing microcontroller projects, and engineers interested in motor control applications.

It has been almost 2 months that our course of Microprocessor and interfacing has started and so far we have studied some useful interfacing techniques too. We are required to work on a project using some basic interfacing techniques to design a single board computer that may carry out some simple jobs. My idea is to design a controller using 8088 microprocessor that may drive a stepper motor at the speed that I enter using a keypad. I Also want to display the speed and position of stepper motor on a small LCD display.
The problem is that I do not have more than 2 months to finish the project and i want to know if it will be possible for me to finish this project in such a limited time.

In principle, yes this could be done in the timescale.

But it depends upon your resources (are you actually going to build this?) and present knowledge.

What I suggest is to see if you could negotiate the display part of the project as to be carried out or left depending upon time etc.
That would leave a viable base project that could be curtailed or extended to suit.

go well
