I've been a long-time fan as well, since about '73 or so. I was living in a Washington (state) city close to the border with B.C., close enough that we could pick up TV stations from Vancouver and Victoria. Not sure how he got it, as "imports" were kind of unusual in those days. We listened to that thing over & over. A few years later the TV show started airing on Public Television ("UHF" remember that?).
Maybe my buddy had a connection in the UK or Canada, he also had import albums by the Bonzos, pretty much unheard of in the US then.
