AI Thread Summary
To automate the startup of multiple programs in OS X, users can create an Automator script that opens the desired applications and sets them to specific directories or files. Once the script is created, it can be set to launch automatically at login by navigating to System Preferences, selecting Users & Groups, and then adding the script under the Login Items tab. This method streamlines the process of opening multiple terminals and reduces time spent on manual setup each time the user logs in.

In OS X, how do you set up user preferances so that when you log in, various programs automatically run every time. I started doing my programming on macs recently for work, and I often need to open 6-8 terminals, and then guide them to different directories and open different files every time I log on, which wastes a lot of time, how do I automate this?

to automate that you should use an automator script. then you can have that automator script launched at log-in by going into system prefs->users->startup tab.

And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
