I am currently doing my engineeering in electrical dept,but i love theoretical physics.What are the options before me to switch the field?And i heard that career in physics doesn't offer one a handsome salary.Is it true?Any one please help!

Since you haven't defined "handsome" I don't think anyone can answer this question.
