SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the role of Sirtuin genes (SIRT1 to SIRT7) in lifespan extension, as detailed in the book "Lifespan" by Harvard researcher David Sinclair. Research indicates that these genes contribute to the repair of epigenetic damage, resulting in a 20% increase in lifespan in mice. Human trials are anticipated to commence within the next few years, marking a significant step in longevity research.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of epigenetics and its impact on gene expression
  • Familiarity with the Sirtuin family of proteins and their biological functions
  • Knowledge of lifespan extension research methodologies
  • Awareness of current trends in human clinical trials related to genetics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the mechanisms of Sirtuin genes in cellular repair
  • Explore the implications of epigenetic modifications on aging
  • Follow updates on human trials related to Sirtuin gene therapies
  • Investigate lifestyle changes that may activate Sirtuin pathways
USEFUL FOR

Researchers in genetics, healthcare professionals interested in longevity, and individuals seeking to understand the biological basis of aging and lifespan extension.

TL;DR
Increasing lifespan - Sirtuins and genes
I read this book called Lifespan by a Harvard researcher called David Sinclair.
They have found that Sirtuin genes (SIRT1 to SIRT7) help in repairing epi-genetic damage and have been able to extend mice lifespans by 20%.
They are going to move to human trials within the next few years.

Is anyone following this research? Is there a forum where we could share/discuss this information?

Most of us could extend our expected lifespan 20% if we just followed our doctor's advice but we don't.
