AI Thread Summary
Research by Harvard scientist David Sinclair, detailed in his book "Lifespan," highlights the role of Sirtuin genes (SIRT1 to SIRT7) in repairing epigenetic damage, leading to a 20% increase in lifespan in mice. Human trials are anticipated in the coming years. The discussion also touches on the potential for individuals to extend their lifespan by adhering to medical advice, though many do not. Participants express interest in forums for further discussion on this groundbreaking research.

TL;DR Summary
Increasing lifespan - Sirtuins and genes
I read this book called Lifespan by a Harvard researcher called David Sinclair.
They have found that Sirtuin genes (SIRT1 to SIRT7) help in repairing epi-genetic damage and have been able to extend mice lifespans by 20%.
They are going to move to human trials within the next few years.

Is anyone following this research? Is there a forum where we could share/discuss this information?

Most of us could extend our expected lifespan 20% if we just followed our doctor's advice but we don't.

The study provides critical new insights into the African Humid Period, a time between 14,500 and 5,000 years ago when the Sahara desert was a green savanna, rich in water bodies that facilitated human habitation and the spread of pastoralism. Later aridification turned this region into the world's largest desert. Due to the extreme aridity of the region today, DNA preservation is poor, making this pioneering ancient DNA study all the more significant. Genomic analyses reveal that the...
