hiii i want a method to saparate water from so2 ?
The discussion focuses on methods for removing sulfur dioxide (SO2) from water and vapor. The most effective approach for liquid SO2 removal involves using an anion exchange column loaded with hydroxide, which traps sulfite ions and produces pure water. For high concentrations of SO2, adding lime precipitates the sulfurous acid, while blowing air through the solution neutralizes it and precipitates calcium. To remove SO2 gas from water vapor, passing the vapor through a heated column of barium hydroxide is recommended, as it maintains high temperatures to prevent condensation.

chemisttree said:You could use NaOH for dry gasses. I recommended barium hydroxide because of its limited solubility in water. A more soluble base, like lime, would cake up and stop passing gas. Sodium hydroxide would be even more susceptible.
