Solving Battery Problem on ASUS Z71V Notebook

I own an ASUS Z71V Notebook and I have some problem with the battery...

here's the specs of the laptop:
Pentium® M processor 760 2MB Cache 2.0GHz 533FSB
Seagate 80GB/8MB Cache 5400RPM
2GB DDR2-4200
PCI Express Nvidia 6600-128MB
DVDRW - Dual Layer
Intel 802.11 a/b/g wireless card

I've had this laptop for about half a year. Recently, the battery doesn't charge above 80%. I'm not sure why it's doing this. The charging light doesn't turn off and I'm not sure what the problem is. any ideas?

Perhaps this is too obvious of an answer, but my first guess is that it's a bad battery.

If you've owned it only 6 months, is it still under warranty? Maybe you can just get the battery replaced by the manufacturer.

It sounds like your battery is suffering from the memory effect.
