SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on modeling heat flow through space shuttle thermal protection tiles using MATLAB. Key materials mentioned include LI-900 and LI-2200, developed by Lockheed Martin. Participants seek specific thermal properties such as thermal conductivity, density, and specific heat for these tiles. A relevant analysis of LI-900's thermomechanical properties is provided through a linked resource.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of MATLAB programming
  • Knowledge of thermal properties in materials science
  • Familiarity with heat transfer concepts
  • Basic understanding of aerospace materials
NEXT STEPS
  • Research thermal conductivity values for LI-900 and LI-2200
  • Explore MATLAB functions for heat flow modeling
  • Study the thermomechanical properties of aerospace materials
  • Review the linked analysis of LI-900 for detailed insights
USEFUL FOR

Aerospace engineers, materials scientists, and researchers involved in thermal management of spacecraft will benefit from this discussion.

Hi, I am writing a MATLAB program to model the heat flow through space shuttle tiles. Does anyone know where I can find the thermal conductivity, density and specific heat of the different tiles on a space shuttle?
