Spelling Auto-correct?

@Greg Bernhardt, does PF have some kind of forced auto-correct in post windows? I was trying to type C-y-t-h-o-n in a post just now and it kept getting corrected to "Python" (note that I couldn't type the word I wanted in this post either without it getting auto-corrected, I had to use the dashes), and I can't find anything else in my configuration that could be doing that.

Same here, Chrome on Linux. The last time I had weird autocorrect behavior here it was an artifact of some obscure browser settings.

Ok, I tried in Firefox on a different device and no auto-correct, so it is something to do with the specific device/browser I was using. Nothing to see here, move along.

Um. Is @PeterDonis on a mobile device? They will autocorrect, yes, but your interface should have the ability to not choose the suggested word. Just tap on the one you want.

A tablet, but not using the on-screen keyboard. What happens is not that I get a choice between words, the way I would if I were typing using the on-screen keyboard on my smartphone. I just type "Cython" and it changes to "Python" without asking anything. I've dug around in various places in the settings but haven't been able to turn the behavior off.

Most autocorrect implementations only run when you finish a word (e.g. by typing a space), if you go back and fix a word (only changing P to C) they should accept that (and give you an option to add it to the dictionary). If that doesn't work, it's a shitty feature that should be disabled.

Yes, if I were using the on-screen keyboard on the tablet, this would work. But I'm not. I'm using a physical keyboard that plugs into the tablet--and for the physical keyboard, there is no such setting--at least, I haven't found one.
