Terrorist attack at a Quebec City mosque

There has been a terrorist attack at a mosque in Quebec City. The lone gunman shot dead 6 people, apparently motivated by far-right ideology.

Among the victims is a professor of engineering at the Université Laval.

I am very saddened and shocked by this event, taking place in the part of the world where I was born and raised.

My wife and I were there a few years ago. It was the year before the attack in Ottawa which we also visited at that time. We really loved the people there. It's hard to believe that any Canadian could do such a thing.

Agreed, I think Quebec City's old town area is one of the world's most underrated places.

Agreed, I think Quebec City's old town area is one of the world's most underrated places.

I had visited Quebec City's old town (the "Old City") with my father a few years ago during the 400th anniversary of the founding the city. It is a lovely place to visit and we both had a great time. I'm planning on visiting again this year, on my way to visit my sister and my nephews (they live in the province of Quebec, but further east).
