Undergrad How to Assign Initial Conditions for Binary Star Systems in a Simulation?

Click For Summary
To assign initial conditions for binary star systems in a simulation, it's important to establish parameters that reflect realistic orbital dynamics. Testing trajectories can be done using known systems, such as the Earth-Sun or Moon-Earth configurations, which can validate the simulation's accuracy. For binary stars, consider factors like mass ratios and orbital separation to create stable orbits. Additionally, simulating individual planets within the Solar System can help analyze energy dynamics and refine initial conditions. Properly setting these parameters is crucial for achieving accurate and meaningful simulation results.

I created a 2 body simulation Is there some special conditions where I can test their trajectory and check my code ?

Physics news on Phys.org
Yes: provide initial conditions. e.g. for the moon circling the Earth or the Earth circling the sun

It passed the Earth sun test. But I was more about wandering cases like binary star etc. How can assign reasonable initial conditions for such systems ?

Now it came to my mind that I can try to simulate each planet I am the Solar system and investigate their energy

Thread 'What is the pressure of trapped air inside this tube?'
As you can see from the picture, i have an uneven U-shaped tube, sealed at the short end. I fill the tube with water and i seal it. So the short side is filled with water and the long side ends up containg water and trapped air. Now the tube is sealed on both sides and i turn it in such a way that the traped air moves at the short side. Are my claims about pressure in senarios A & B correct? What is the pressure for all points in senario C? (My question is basically coming from watching...
