The discussion centers around the "Axe effect," a term associated with the strong scent of Axe body spray, which some find appealing while others consider it overwhelming and unpleasant. Users express mixed feelings about Axe products, with some recommending specific scents like Axe Voodoo and Axe Essence for their fresh and clean aromas. However, many participants share negative experiences, recalling instances where Axe was overused, leading to strong, off-putting smells. The conversation also touches on the distinction between Axe as a deodorant and a cologne, with some users confused about its classification. Preferences for other brands, such as Old Spice and Right Guard, are mentioned, highlighting personal scent preferences and the importance of finding a balance between effectiveness and pleasant fragrance. Overall, the thread reveals a diverse range of opinions on body sprays and deodorants, emphasizing individual taste in scents and the impact of personal experiences on fragrance choices.

Actually, lavender might smell nice on a guy. It has that clean, woody thing going on.
Y'know, you might be right there. I like it because it's very clean and "soapy" smelling, a little spicey even. Yeah, it sounds strange to suggest it, but it does seem like a man would smell very tasty if he were bathed in lavender. :approve:

I think that's what I really like, are earthy, herbal/spicey scents, not floral, definitely not musk (I completely agree with Evo on that...musk is absolutely nauseating to me), nothing like perfume, just a very natural, clean smell...like fresh air in the woods. I also have soaps that are lemongrass scented...they're very nice in the morning for waking up. A friend used to have a shower gel that was eucalyptus scented (a product she'd bring back from Holland...maybe Monique knows what it is...you can't get it in the US) which was also fantastic for that morning shower to help wake you up with an invigorating scent. Lavender is more of the soothing, help you go to sleep at night scent.

Even some soaps and shampoos are too strongly perfumed for me. Pantene is one of them, as is Dove brand soap (they might have a less strongly scented one now, I can't recall, but the original bar soaps were cloyingly sweet). Those sorts of scents give me a headache. But then something like Herbal Essence makes me feel just like the women in their commercials.

There are a lot of new old spice "flavors". I actually have a stick of old spice fresh and everyone I know says I smell good
New Old Spice, huh? Okay, I guess I was out of the loop on that. I just know the old stinky stuff my step dad wears that seems to be the essence of old-man smell. I'll have to do some sniffing of the deodorants at the grocery store and report back on which are acceptable for my palette.

I'd buy you a case of the stuff for a tape recording of that!
