AI Thread Summary
A laptop can power on when connected to the mains, but may fail to turn on after being unplugged, indicating potential issues with the battery or charger. If the battery is not charging while plugged in, the laptop might be running solely on mains power. Users should check for battery indicator lights to assess charging status. This situation suggests that either the battery or the charger may be malfunctioning, leading to the laptop's inability to operate independently of the power outlet.

But, even though my battery outlet has been attached to my laptop for an hour or so , and I unattached my laptop, I am no longer able to turn on my laptop. A battery is attached to my laptop.

Could battery laptops stop functioning?

Is the battery charging when your laptop is plugged in, or is the laptop simply running from the mains? It sounds like the latter. You should have some battery light somewhere that will tell you.
