Troubleshooting Ion Exchange Membrane Desalination with Comsol - Low Voltage Fix

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around troubleshooting issues encountered in a simulation of ion exchange membrane desalination using Comsol. Participants are addressing the problem of simulation errors that arise when using higher initial voltage values compared to lower ones.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant reports that their simulation fails with initial voltage values of 5, 7, and 9 volts, while it runs successfully with lower values like 0.5, 1, and 1.5 volts.
  • Another participant requests the original simulation file or a different method of sharing the error image, indicating that links to external forums may not be accessible to others.
  • Some participants suggest changing the initial values or checking the equations involved in the simulation, but they note that without more details, it is difficult to diagnose the issue.
  • A participant confirms that the solution converges with lower initial voltage values but encounters errors with higher values, expressing confusion about the discrepancy.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express uncertainty regarding the cause of the simulation errors, with no consensus on a specific solution or diagnosis. Multiple suggestions are offered, but the discussion remains unresolved.

Contextual Notes

Limitations include a lack of detailed information about the equations being used in the simulation and the specific nature of the error encountered. The discussion does not clarify the assumptions behind the initial voltage values or the parameters set in the simulation.

hello to every on
i m trying to desalinate seawater with an ion exchange membrane.
the initial voltage of my simulation is 5 volt and it increase to 7 and 9Volt
when i insert that data to Comsol it doesn't work and give the below error!
http://www.iran-eng.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=223509&d=1412972316
but when i insert the low voltage,for e.g 0.5 , 1, 1.5 Volt ,it run!
help me to fixed it

the pic of error:

Please attach the file here or upload it somewhere else, using attachments from other forums do not work so we cannot see the picture (even if you might be able to see it).

You can try to change the initial values. Or check the equations you want to solve. Without (much) more details, it is impossible to tell what went wrong.

i checked it
in the" study => stationary => parameter value list" if i inter the(0.5,0.5,1.5) the solutioncan converged.
but when i inter (5,7,9) this error happened!.
I really confused!
