SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on troubleshooting low RPM oil flow in diesel engines, specifically when the engine cranks at 300 RPM without any observable oil flow. Key factors include the type of diesel engine (car, truck, or ship) and the distinction between lubricating oil and fuel oil. Participants emphasize the importance of understanding the engine type and the method of observing oil flow, such as using a sight glass, to diagnose the issue effectively.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of diesel engine mechanics
  • Familiarity with oil flow systems in engines
  • Knowledge of lubricating oil versus fuel oil
  • Experience with diagnostic tools like sight glasses
NEXT STEPS
  • Research diesel engine lubrication systems
  • Learn about oil flow diagnostics in low RPM scenarios
  • Explore troubleshooting techniques for oil flow issues
  • Investigate the role of sight glasses in monitoring oil flow
USEFUL FOR

Engine mechanics, automotive technicians, and anyone involved in the maintenance and troubleshooting of diesel engines will benefit from this discussion.

I think we need a bit more information, what type of engine, car, truck ship. Which oil lubricating or fuel? How do you mean "find no flow" do you usually see oil flowing in a sightglass?
