SUMMARY

It is possible to un-entangle two entangled particles through measurement. Specifically, performing a measurement on either of the entangled particles is sufficient to disrupt their entanglement. For example, sending one of two entangled photons, which are in a "twin state" with respect to polarization, through a polarizer will result in the loss of their entangled state. This process is definitive and relies on the principles of quantum mechanics.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of quantum entanglement
  • Familiarity with polarization of photons
  • Knowledge of measurement in quantum mechanics
  • Basic principles of quantum state evolution
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the implications of quantum measurement on entangled states
  • Explore the concept of quantum state evolution post-measurement
  • Learn about the role of polarizers in quantum optics
  • Investigate real-world applications of entangled photons in quantum communication
USEFUL FOR

Quantum physicists, researchers in quantum mechanics, and anyone interested in the principles of quantum entanglement and its applications.

is it possible to UN-entangle two entangled particles?

if so, how?

Perform a measurement on both of them. Then as they evolve after the measurement, they are no longer entangled.

Performing a measurement on one of them suffices. For instance, if you have to photons which are in the "twin state" i.e. entangled with respect to polarization, all you need to do is send one of them through a polarizer.
