Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around hyperbolic functions, specifically the application of identities and formulas related to sinh and cosh in the context of a problem involving the expression sinh(2x+x).

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification, Mathematical reasoning

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster attempts to apply the sine addition formula to hyperbolic functions and questions the identities of cosh(2x). They express confusion about whether to use a specific identity for cosh(2x).

Discussion Status

Participants are engaging in clarifying the use of hyperbolic identities. Some guidance has been offered regarding the identities that can be used, but the original poster continues to express confusion about their approach.

Contextual Notes

The original poster indicates uncertainty about the correct identity to use for cosh(2x) and reflects on their understanding of the problem setup.

Homework Equations

Now from what i can recall the formula for sin(A+B) = sinAcosB+sinbcosA
so same goes for hyperbolic function i suppose?
sinh(2x+x) = sinh2xcoshx+cosh2xsinx
(2sinhxcoshx)coshx + (cos^2hx+sinh^2hx)sinx :/ am i on the right track... what confuses me are the identities of cosh2x .

EDIT: WOULD I USE COSH2X= 1+2SINH^2X?
CONFUSED :(
Thanks for your input in advance!

You can use either (cosh2x+sinh2x) or 1 + 2sinh2x

Hello there! thanks for replying but lol i have just over-confused myself :(

OHHHH I GET IT NOW.. i was subbing an 2x where actually it was just an 'x'.
Thanks for the reply though ;)
