Discussion Overview

The discussion centers on the feasibility of developing a drive engine system for human-made starships that could utilize a reliable and potentially infinite source of fuel for space travel. Participants explore theoretical concepts and practical challenges associated with long-distance space travel.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory
  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification

Main Points Raised

  • One participant questions the possibility of creating a starship with an infinite source of fuel.
  • Another participant asserts that an infinite source of fuel is not possible.
  • A participant discusses the need for continuous force in space travel and raises concerns about fuel sufficiency and potential damage to the ship over long distances.
  • Some participants propose the idea of using hydrogen found in space as a fuel source, referencing the Bussard ramjet concept, while acknowledging various challenges associated with this approach.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the possibility of an infinite fuel source, with some asserting it is impossible while others explore alternative fuel sources. The discussion remains unresolved regarding the best approach to fuel for long-distance space travel.

Contextual Notes

Participants highlight various challenges related to fuel supply, the need for continuous force, and the effects of gravitational interference from stars, indicating that many issues remain to be addressed.

If human can build the starship but how there having a drive engine system that have a more reliable and infinite source of fuel?

It is not possible to have an infinite source of fuel.

When reach space, we need force all the time at space. How to overcome that? Fuel? Sure not enough, then machine will damage always, we may need to bring a lot of part with us if we want to travel long way in the universe do we... beside, there is hundred thousand of star, gravity of them will always interfere our ship, then we need force to overcome it. Still many issue need to solve.

Not an infinite source of fuel, but some have proposed using the hydrogen that exists in space as the fuel source. There are lots of issues, but it's an interesting idea:
