Main Points Raised

  • Some participants suggest that the article's ideas bear resemblance to David Bohm's causal interpretation, though they emphasize that the connection is speculative and qualitative.
  • Others draw parallels between the article's concepts and the time-dependent wavefunction in quantum mechanics.
  • A participant mentions the 'Infinite Improbability Drive' from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," indicating a recognition of the absurdity and creativity in blending science with fiction.
  • One participant highlights the satirical nature of The Onion, pointing out that it should not be taken as a serious source of information.
  • Another participant references a recent satirical headline from The Onion to illustrate the absurdity of the content discussed.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express differing views on the seriousness of the article, with some acknowledging its satirical nature while others engage with the scientific concepts presented. No consensus is reached on the validity or implications of the ideas discussed.

Not unlike some of the stories you actually here from people who think they know what they're talking about.

At first glance, it seems a little like David Bohm's causal interpretation, but purely speculative and qualitative.

Really, it reminds me simply of the time dependent wavefunction.

Seriously, I couldn't make it through that whole article (maybe because of the beer). I've made up some pretty ridiculous, but plausible, stuff for some of my stories, so I can't fault the author for going where his mind took him.
The basic concept, though, reminds me immensely of the 'Infinite Improbability Drive' from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

The onion is Satire, not a new source!

"It's kinda like The Matrix times a million."

An article on the onion website three days ago was titled, "Legion Of Terra-Cotta Mouseketeers Found Beneath Disney World ."
