I want to erase the data in a USB, without actually messing up the circuitry of the device, using magnets. What would be an ideal approach ??
The discussion centers on the effectiveness of using magnets to erase data from USB flash drives. Participants clarify that while magnetic fields can damage flash memory devices, they do not erase data in the traditional sense. Instead, a sufficiently strong and changing magnetic field can induce electrical currents that may corrupt the device. The consensus is that the most reliable method for erasing data from a flash drive is to overwrite it using a computer, rather than relying on magnetic fields.
PREREQUISITESThis discussion is beneficial for data security professionals, IT specialists, and anyone interested in understanding the limitations of physical data destruction methods for USB flash drives.

Sorry for the typo, I meant a flash drive. I want to remove the data from the drive( which definitely could be done using a PC) using magnetic field, as I have read about magnetic fields destroying data stored in electronic devices.
