What do TAs and RAs for theoretical physics do?

Click For Summary
Research Assistants (RAs) in theoretical physics typically work on specific problems outlined in grant proposals, which are often tied to the funding they receive. Their tasks are largely determined by their advisors, and this can vary based on whether they are in graduate or undergraduate programs. The work may involve mathematical applications, but the primary focus is on addressing the research objectives set forth in the grant.

Graduate school or undergraduate?

Whatever their advisors tell them to! Most RAs are grant supported, and the statement of work is in the grant proposal. Usually, it is working on a specific problem in theoretical physics.

TL;DR: Jackson or Zangwill for Electrodynamics? Hi, I want to learn ultrafast optics and I am interested in condensed matter physics, ie using ultrafast optics in condensed matter systems. However, before I get onto ultrafast optics I need to improve my electrodynamics knowledge. Should I study Jackson or Zangwill for Electrodynamics? My level at the moment is Griffiths. Given my interest in ultrafast optics in condensed matter, I am not sure which book is better suited for me. If...
