I first thought magnetic, but that only makes sense for ml, they're both projections though, does anyone know what they stand for?
Thanks!
Thanks!
The discussion clarifies the meanings of the quantum numbers represented by the letters "m" and "s" in the context of quantum mechanics. The letter "m" stands for "magnetic," specifically referring to the magnetic quantum number (ml), while "s" denotes "spin," indicating the spin quantum number (ms). The letter "l" is associated with the azimuthal quantum number, which describes the orbital angular momentum. These terms are historically significant in quantum mechanics and are essential for understanding electron configurations.
