A self resonant coil refers to a coil in a circuit that is not a pure inductance, but becomes capacitive (and hence self-resonant) at higher frequencies due to inter-turn capacitance. An example might be an RF coil designed for use at 100 MHz (FM band) that will self-resonate at 200 MHz due to inter-turn capacitance.
