Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around a scenario involving a plane in freefall, where the original poster seeks to understand the force required for a person to prevent the plane from crashing. The context includes specific masses for both the human and the plane, as well as the initial velocity of the plane.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster attempts to calculate the force needed using the mass and gravitational acceleration but finds their approach incorrect. Some participants question the need to decelerate the plane, while others clarify that deceleration is necessary to prevent a crash.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with participants exploring different interpretations of the problem. There is a recognition of the need to decelerate the plane, but no consensus has been reached on the specific calculations or methods to apply.

Contextual Notes

Participants are grappling with the implications of the plane's motion and the forces involved, with some uncertainty about the assumptions regarding deceleration and the mechanics of preventing a crash.

Homework Statement

A plane is in a freefall heading downwards and is about to crash
how much force does it require for a person to hold the plane from the nose of the plane and level it down so it does not crash.

Masses
-------
Humen 50kg
plane 20,000kg
vi: 1200 km/hr

question i want to know is how much for does it take for a person that weighs that much to stop a falling plane.

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution

i tried to do M x G but apparently it is not correct.

any help would be appreciated thanks.

The plane is moving... You'll need to decelerate it from 1200kmh to 0.

the plane is falling why do i have to decelerate it?

Well, if you don't decelerate it before it reaches the ground, it'll crash onto the ground at 1200 kmh.
